An Overview of Government-Supported E-learning Activities in Australia

For at least the last few decades Australia has enjoyed a reputation of being a leader in distance education and an early adopter of technology for educational purposes. This historical context has also provided a good foundation for the development of e-learning, within both public and private sectors. However, developments in the broader global setting now mean that such leadership is no longer assumed. In many ways, education and training communities worldwide share similar concerns and challenges in forging an e-learning infrastructure that is sustainable and that continues to transform learning, education, and training for social and economic benefit.
